Gunung Sari Market (wet and dry) at Lombok island

On the third day morning, before we travel to Sendang Gile Waterfall at the Mount Rinjani, we stopped by the local market – Gunung Sari Market – wet and dry  (S8.54177 E116.10707).

As Pak Uji said, they called this type of market ‘7-11’. But it’s not similar to the convenience stall we familiar with, 7-11 is the operating or business hour of the market…means 7-11am.

Before we step into the market, there was a row horse-drawn carriage called ‘Cidomo’, use as a short distance public transport for the locals.

 photo IMG_3390_zpsjadh9z67.jpg

We walked through the dry market and there were many stuffs that really new to me. From the daily necessity, cloths, snacks and foods.

 photo IMG_3404_zps4osmagus.jpg

 photo IMG_3407_zps3qykr155.jpg

I noticed some of the foods (for breakfast) were really look delicious! Too bad, we already had our breakfast in resort…or else I will definitely try some of it…

 photo IMG_3409_zpsoubju8mg.jpg

After about an hour, we came to the end of the dry market…unfortunately the time was not allow for us to continue to the wet session.

Another type of public transport spotted at the exit, it looks like ‘Angkot’ from Jakarta but with a smaller capacity…too bad I forgot to get the name of it…

The familiar scene in Bali island also happen here in Lombok, the gasoline for light vehicles was easy available along the busy street of Lombok island.

While waiting for our teammate – Tony who was missing in the market, we took another group photo before our next destination – Sendang Gile Waterfall.

Kuta beach of Lombok island

Less than 5km (10 minutes journey) from Ashtari Restaurant and Lounge, we visited the nearby beach – Kuta beach (S8.89492 E116.28319) of south Lombok island (there’s another Kuta beach in Bali which is different).
According to Pak Uji, meaning ‘Kuta’ is gateway at the south, therefore there’s another gateway in Bali too.

But we arrived at Kuta beach in poor timing, it was cloudy and low tide…

 photo IMG_3043_zps70e5c723.jpg

 photo IMG_3055_zps341fb3df.jpg

Despite the weather, all of us just simply shoot surrounding to satisfied our cameras…:)

The beach is full of volcano rocks, and the major different from the others beaches we visited was the sands…it’s not actually ‘sands’, there were formation of round tiny stones! This was really special!

 photo IMG_3046_zpse3ff3b4c.jpg

Along the Kuta bay, the area is full of hotels and resorts, there’s also many activities area like cafe, restaurant and shops. I believe the night activities hear must be happening too, but I’m yet to experience it.

 photo IMG_3049_zps2976bb0c.jpg

Beside taking photos of the beach, one of our tour mate – Noelle who was enjoying playing with the children around and taking nice photos.

 photo IMG_3060_zpse62a6234.jpg

 photo IMG_3061_zpseeda5515.jpg

 photo IMG_3062_zps64d83319.jpg

Noticed there were children and women walking along the beach selling souvenirs and hand weaved cloths…I didn’t ask for the price…

 photo IMG_3070_zps49c0e383.jpg

 photo IMG_3072_zps31fd65c2.jpg

Before we leave the beach, I found this nature beauty standing alone on the volcano rock…it’s the only outstanding rock along the beach…

 photo Untitled_HDR3_zps225de654.jpg

 photo IMG_3071_zpsb770c3ba.jpg

There was nothing much, we left the beach after 30 minutes and continue our journey to the next destination…

Ashtari Restaurant and Lounge at South Lombok Island, Indonesia

After our ‘suntan session’ from the 2 beaches – Selong Belanak and Mawun beach, we were starving for food…traveling about 7km of winding road from the beach, we finally reached Ashtari Restaurant and Lounge (S8.88255 E116.26417).

 photo IMG_2984_zpsee3c3767.jpg

While I walked into the restaurant area, noticed one tiny signage nailed on the tree…took a closer look, it stated “Yoga Platform”. Oh my goodness! Great! The Yoga activities within the nature! But I didn’t manage to take a shot on the platform because it was not ready yet…

 photo IMG_2986_zps3133ddf9.jpg

The restaurant is situated on a small hill, everyone of us enjoying the walk from the entrance up to the restaurant…

 photo IMG_2987_zpse46c3d14.jpg

The first stunning view attracted all of us was the balcony which overlooking the Kuta town and the beach. It was a spectacular view!

 photo IMG_2990_zps1959352c.jpg

Let me show you around the restaurant…
By walking into the main dining area, the place is full of bean bags…new concept of a restaurant.

 photo IMG_3008_zps3ff30abd.jpg

 photo IMG_3010_zps05d9cf07.jpg

Beside the bean bags area in the center of the restaurant, there are others different design of dining tables and chairs surrounded…

 photo IMG_3006_zpsc68448c9.jpg

 photo IMG_3012_zps00a98a08.jpg

 photo IMG_3009_zpsae453ddf.jpg

With the sitting areas above, I believe the balcony is the popular area. And yes! We chose the balcony too!

 photo IMG_3002_zps69a71ec1.jpg

 photo IMG_2991_zps8d28f6f5.jpg

 photo IMG_3016_zps6d00fb63.jpg

The balcony area has the perfect panoramic view of the beautiful surrounding.

The friendly owner is Mr Priss, who born in Paris.

 photo IMG_2995_zpse88ae9e4.jpg

Mr Priss was an architect and a designer who had few hobbies in cooking and music. He was a director of a restaurant and club in Paris, and also owner of a restaurants in France. Before he came to Indonesia, he did the architecture and design for the Arabian Palace in Dubai and Saudi Arabia. Mr Priss and his wife suddenly think of change their life style and decided to started a restaurant in Bali called La Plage in Legian area, the restaurant continued to operated for 5 years. Beside the restaurant in Bali, he also managed to designed and constructed 5 villas in Bali island of Indonesia. Now, Mr Priss became one of the partners of Ashtari Restaurant and he been running it now for a year.

Before our food serve on table, everyone was busy taking photo around the restaurant…some just mesmerized by the breathtaking scenery of Ashrati Restaurant…her name is Karen.

 photo IMG_3014_zps1a97b96b.jpg

At first, we had some starter…

 photo IMG_3017_zps2fc5e908.jpg

Then followed by the main courses…
Most of us decided to try out their local dishes, so I had the seafood Nasi Goreng Kampung and other tour mates ordered the local seafood mee goreng, some tasted the beef burger…

 photo IMG_3025_zps1044ef33.jpg

 photo IMG_3023_zps76fdf6b2.jpg

 photo IMG_3022_zps608f7938.jpg

Beside the main courses above, it’s strongly recommended you ordered the extra local sambal (chili) for those who can take spicy chili, it was hot and marvelous! We all like it very much!

 photo IMG_3027_zps1d686004.jpg

The foods were really surprised us with the local and original taste! Provided with the different recipe which we had it in our country, and the portion was big enough to satisfied our hunger, delicious!

Dessert came after our meals, I tried the pancakes with Nutella and banana…oh man! Nice and not overly sweet.

 photo IMG_3030_zps7deebeb3.jpg

The restaurant is also a perfect chilled out place for a ice cold beer while watching the sunset…

 photo IMG_3021_zps92b0bda7.jpg

After we finished our wonderful meals, everyone was relax on the bean bags and enjoyed their drinks…

 photo IMG_3034_zpse664ec7f.jpg

 photo IMG_3035_zps8dac690f.jpg

Because of our schedule, we cannot laying on the bean bags for too long…too bad…
We started our journey to the next destination…

* Strongly recommended restaurant, must visit at least once if you are travel to Lombok island.
