The Best Malaysia Has To Offer – Citrawarna/Colours Of 1Malaysia 2013

Citrawarna also known as Colours of 1 Malaysia will be held on 25th May 2013 at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur. It returns for another year of showcasing the best of what Malaysia has to offer and to prove that colours and cultures always have a correlation with one another in most festivals in Malaysia.

Founded in 1999 to reflect the rich cultures that Malaysia represents, the event has since spread awareness of Malaysia’s artistic, geological and cultural gems to many parts of the world.

The ruler of Malaysia, Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Al-Haj Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah and his queen are expected to grace the event to officiate at the Citrawarna 2013 Parade as well as to lend the event their support.

The yearly event celebrated every May, to unite various states of the nation in one single place to portray their culture and lifestyle. One can use this opportunity to see shows presented by different ethnic races of this multicultural country.

To expect larger and more dazzling event in this 15th year celebration, one can also get the experience of seeing various talents and cultural performances exhibited on one solo stage or floor where all the nook and corner of Malaysia gets bonded.

During this festival there will be traditional dances, parades, exhibitions, traditional costumes and jewelleries and many more events that will bring together all the different races in Malaysia. Each ethnic Malaysian community will showcase their traditional and customary individuality in costumes, head gears, traditional dance and music, art and craftwork and also traditional cuisine and delicacies and many more.

Depicted as a ‘premier cultural extravaganza’ by Ministry of Tourism and Tourism Malaysia, the festive brings in joy in every Malaysian’s soul as one can see all the arts and dance performances of the country under one roof. There are visitors from other continents as well to enjoy these shows.

This year’s festival too will be a time of celebration of unity among Malaysian, so come along with your family!

Flag raising ceremony, Dataran Merdeka

Not sure what to do on a Monday morning in Kuala Lumpur?

Catch the Jalur Gemilang flag raising ceremony at Dataran Merdeka, at 10 am (lasts 10 to 15 minutes) every Monday morning, weather permitting, of course.

Dataran Merdeka, is a historically significant venue to the country where the Union Jack flag was lowered, and the Malayan Federation flag was raised for the first time at the stroke of midnight. It is also one of the sites for the sixth tallest flag pole in the world.

Dataran Merdeka is also the venue for the Merdeka Day parade.

Resplendent in their crisp, white uniforms, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) enforcement officers and personnel assemble at the field near the flagpole.

The event starts with the singing of the national anthem, Negaraku, and the raising of the Jalur Gemilang. It is followed by a captivating performance by riders from DBKL horse unit. This is accompanied by a brass band belting out three to four songs.

The event, doesn’t last long, around 10 to fifteen minutes, so be sure to come early. Oh, and do bring along a camera, you wouldn’t want to miss this new attraction to the city!

Royal Malaysian Police Open Day 2011

The month of October will begin with a bang as the men in blue of Malaysia invites the public to attend its Police Open Day 2011 at Dataran Merdeka this Saturday, 1st October 2011. the event is one of several events held throughout the year to build closer ties with the general public and is also part the police’s celebration for Hari Raya.

The event will begin at 8 am and end at 6 pm. Among the activities planned for the day are street soccer matches, shooting simulations, cultural performances by ASWARA and of course, a lucky draw! As with other open house events, food will be served throughout 11am till 3 pm for those who attend and the day will end with a special performance by the Royal Malaysian Police Band.

The Royal Malaysian Police Force will be organising an Open Day on 1st October 2011

While this event is focused on local Malaysians, visitors from any country are welcome to attend and experience this simple community affair.

As the event will be held at Dataran Merdeka, several roads in the city will be closed to motorists on Saturday, beginning at 12 am till 12 pm. The roads affected are Jalan Kinabalu/Bukit Aman exit, Jalan Kinabalu/Hishamuddin Roundabout, Jalan Raja/Jalan Hishamuddin, and Jalan Leboh Pasar Besar/Jalan Hishamuddin.

Other roads inaccessible to motorists will be Jalan Leboh Ampang/Jalan Tun Razak, Dato Onn Roundabout/Jalan Parlimen, Jalan Parlimen/Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Leboh Pasar Besar/Jalan Mahkamah Persekutuan and Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman/Jalan Raja.
