Sarawak Tourism Board Signs Mou With See Mark Travel Services Taipei

Taipei, Taiwan, Friday: –  Sarawak’s promotion in Taiwan was given a shot in the arm today with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) and Taipei based See Mark Travel Services at the Taipei International Travel Fair held at the Taiwan World Trade Centre here this morning.

The MOU will enable See Mark Travel Services to run its charter flights from Taipei to Kuching on January 28th and subsequently, during its Summer 2017 season, starting from June 2017 to August 2017 with a total of 19 flights with one flight in every five days.

The Chairman of the Board, Datuk Abdul Wahab Aziz signed the MOU while See Mark Travel Services was represented by Mr. Mark Chen, See Marks’ General Manager.

The ceremony was witnessed by the Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Datu Ik Pahon Joyik and Mr. Chen Chiang Yang, See Marks’ Sales Manager.

After the signing ceremony, the exchange of MOU documents was witnessed by Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Tourism, Datuk Amar Abang Haji Johari Tun Openg and his Assistant, Datuk Lee Kim Shin.

Later in the afternoon, Datuk Amar Abang Johari, who is leading a six-member delegation to Taiwan, held discussion with Taiwan’s Far Eastern Airways and Malindo Air on the possibilities of mounting direct schedule flights to Kuching.

“We are pleased that we are making inroad in the Taiwan markets with charter flights and we hope that we will be able to negotiate for more charters and schedule flights in the near future.” remarked Datuk Amar Abang Johari.

He added that it will be an initial start towards solving the challenge of connectivity in the State.

He expressed confidence that his Ministry will continue to work with local Taiwanese partners in Taipei and in other cities to further the State’s ambition to improve connectivity into the state.

Also present at the signing ceremony were the President of the Malaysian Friendship and Trade Center in Taipei, Datuk Adeline Leong and the Director of Tourism Malaysia Taipei office, Ahmad Faisal.

Meanwhile, the STB Booth at the ITF features four local Taiwanese travel agents and a consortium of six travel partners featuring Sarawak packages at this Taiwan’s premier travel fair.

They are the Lion Travel Services, China Dragon Travel Services, See Mark Travel Services, Tai Yuan Travel Services, the “Green Miracles” Consortium of six agents and Sarawak-based Regal Properties on Malaysia My Second Home programme.

Sarawak Travel Agents And Hoteliers Offer Special Packages At MATTA FAIR

KUCHING, Friday – Sarawak is being  represented by three hoteliers and four tour agents which are currently selling special packages  at the  ongoing  MATTA Travel Fair be held at the Putra World Trade Center in Kuala Lumpur.

Sarawak strongly features the ever popular Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri city excursions and topping up with tours to Sarawak’s major National Parks such as Bako, Niah and Mulu UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Visitors to the weekend fair, which started today are entitled to claim special free gifts and also enter a grand lucky draw for a chance to win attractive Sarawak holiday prizes when they purchase any packages.

The Sarawak Pavilion, located at Hall 4 booth number 4101 – 4106 is open from 10 am to 9.00 pm daily.

MATTA fair is Malaysia’s largest consumer travel fair and this time it is expected to attract RM 200 million worth of sales with 100,000 visitors expected to attend the weekend travel sales galore.
