Najwa @ Mystical Eve

December 19, 2011 during 4:03 pm

Since 2009, Najwa Mahiaddin (Najwa) has worked tough to settle herself – gigging during open mic nights, collaborating with contemporaries (her noted Malam Nada Biru unison with Yuna) and gradually relocating on to standalone shows with her band, Thing One, final year. It’s no deceit that she has given a internal RB genre a participation in a singer-songwriter stage filled with indie and folk acts.

Her past works embody a fibre of collaborations with internal hip bound nonconformist Malique (ex-Too Phat) on marks like Kau Yang Punya and Senyum and with all-girl supergroup The Ramlees featuring Yuna, Liyana Fizi and Mira (of Tilu) on Itulah Sayang, a lane off Astro and XFM’s P. Ramlee … Di Mana Kan Ku Cari Ganti: Satu Indiepretasi gathering album.

Now with her entrance album, Innocent Soul, a heroic debutante with alluring interest hopes to popularise a heterogeneous sounds of neo-soul in Malaysia. “Neo-soul is a multiple of jazz, funk, hip bound and cocktail and it’s something that is still utterly new here,” she said. “There weren’t that many essence idols around when we was a child. we grew adult listening to a likes of Billie Holiday and Jill Scott. They’re some of my all-time favourites.”
