For those who missed last year’s Music, Arts, Style and International Festival (MASiF) which was held at Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur, fret not because this year’s MASiF will be held from the 15th till 17th September 2011. The venue for this three day festival will be Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) this time around. The event will start off with ‘Let’s MASiF’, where visitors will get to enjoy performances that reflect the current happenings in the world of contemporary music, art and style. Day two, entitled ‘One MASiF’ touches on the diversity of Malaysian culture whereas day three, entitled ‘Massive MASiF’ will feature successful international Malaysians and selected regional artists, singers, musicians and designers sharing their passion in their field.

Amri Ginang

One of the public programmes include an evening with Amri Ginang, Malaysia’s pioneer photographer who will take you on a journey into the world of photography.

First time visitors to this prestigious event can expect to catch some of Malaysia’s favourite artistes like Ella, Misha Omar and Jamal Abdillah during the festival. Fans of independent music are also in for a treat as Indie bands such as Tashya’s Ink, Narmi and Brainhead will also be performing during this event. If this is starting to sound like any other music festival, think again as there will also be an art exhibition and other art related workshops happening from the 15th to the 17th. Malaysian art fans should not miss out on the art exhibition entitled ‘Fusion of Passion’ at Galeri Petronas in Suria KLCC. Members of the public can also participate in the three public programmes that will be held on 16th and 17th September.

Other than that, there will also be fashion shows showcasing the works of our very own designers like Shegar Chandra, Raymond Goh and Syarehan Ahmad. There will also be performances and activities specially tailored for our younger generation, organised by Kool Kidz. Some of the performances lined-up for Kool Kidz during the event include a Zapin and Hip-hop dance, Silat Harimau and Kuda Kepang and music performances. So, remember to head on down to KLCC this 15th till 17th September to be part of this unique event. For more information on MASiF 2011, log on to the official website here.
