The Selfish Crocodile

October 5, 2011 at 12:00 pm

It is time once again to meet some of our forest friends from a popular children’s book by author Faustin Charles and Michael Terry. Come and see the characters from the story come to life in this delightful stage adaptation by UK’s Blunderbus Theatre Company.

The story is about a selfish crocodile refuses to let any of the other animals to bathe or drink from the river. One day, all the animals in the jungle hear a horrible sound, as if someone was in a lot of pain. Upon investigation, the animals found out that it was the crocodile who made the sound. None of the animals wanted to go near the crocodile to help, except for one little mouse. This little mouse went into the big crocodile’s mouth to see what was causing the pain and finds that it is a broken tooth. After the mouse came out with the tooth, the crocodile was no longer in pain. He thanked the mouse for its help and in turn let all the animals come to bathe and drink from the river.

This tale will see the talents of Jeanette Susan Longworth, Simon James Sanchez and Sophie Roch and a host of papier-mache puppets. The story teaches positive messages like honesty, compassion and most of all, the importance of friendship. It also reminds the children that sometimes, the smallest acts of kindness are the ones that often have the greatest impact. Though the story is written for children between the ages of 4 – 7, it will not come as a surprise if the adults find it thoroughly entertaining too! The show is scheduled to perform from 4th till 22nd October 2011 at PJ Live Arts. Show times are as follows:
