Malaysian Girls The Musical

Beauty pageants… one of the most coveted competitions among many a girl all over the world. For these girls, a chance to compete in a beauty pageant can mean a lot of things for them:- a shot at fame, a chance to be noticed by the world and it can even be a personal achievement. While it may seem all glamorous and glitzy on the outside, only the participants themselves will know how stiff the competition actually is on the inside. Despite all that, beauty pageants are still a favourite to watch by people of all ages.

Malaysian Girls the Musical is a not-to-be-missed production presented by Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (klpac) and Celcom, scheduled to hit the stage from 10th till 30th December 2011 in Kuala Lumpur and 10th till 14th January 2012 in Penang. It tells the story of Serenity Billion, the creator of The Malaysian Girls Pageant and her mission to keep the pageant as how she feels it should be – to seek and define a uniquely ideal Malaysian beauty. An unfortunate event happened just weeks before this year’s pageant; her beloved friend, Samsara Jaya had passed away suddenly. Mourning for her loss, Serenity and the girls are left to ponder on their fate. Out of the blue comes Dato’ Ray Sanjay, Samsara’s flashy brother, and his assistant Jasmine Hibiscus and her two side-kicks, all with one intention – to give the quite Malaysian pageant a more ‘International’ flavour!

So who will be THE ultimate Malaysian Girl? What will she look like? What defines her? Will she be an all-out ‘buatan’ Malaysia? Come and check out the musical for the answers. Shows are scheduled to perform at 8.30 pm daily from 10th till 30th December 2011 EXCEPT for shows on 11th and 18th December, which starts at 3.00 pm AND 25th till 26th December, which starts at 5.00 pm. Tickets are priced as below:

Ticket prices for weekdays (Tuesdays till Thursdays)
Adults – RM 40 / RM 60/ RM 80 and RM 100
Concession – RM 32 / RM 48 / RM 64 / RM 80*

Ticket prices for weekends (Fridays till Sundays)
Adults – RM 50 / RM 70 / RM 90/ RM 110
Concession – RM 40/ RM 56/ RM 72/ RM 88*
